Martha Liliana Carreño is Civil Engineer (1999) and M.Sc. in Structural Engineering (2001) by the University of Los Andes, Bogotá, Colombia. Doctor in Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics (2006) by the Technical University of Catalonia (UPC) in Barcelona, Spain. Currently, she is a Senior researcher of the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) (from 2008), working in research lines related to integrated disaster risk assessment and risk management. She is also Adjunct Professor (Profesor Asociado) at the UPC from 2009. Her teaching activity is focused in the field of Seismic Risk Evaluation and management for civil engineering master students. She is one of the Guarantors for the Severo Ochoa Excelence Certification at CIMNE (2019-2023). She authored of several papers in indexed scientific journals (25), chapters of books (12), monographs, and communications in international conferences. Her h-index is 12 (acording to Web of Science). She has supervised 6 Doctoral Theses already finished, one of them has been awarded by the Special Doctoral Awards (Premi Extraordinari de Doctorat) in 2018 (Promotion 2015-2016). Currently she works in the direction of two doctoral students at the UPC. She collaborated in various projects funded by the European Commission, by the Spanish Government and in consultancy contracts for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank and the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR).
